Letter From The Principal

Posted April 23, 2010

Dear Carondelet High School Parent Community,

We are well into the last quarter of this 2009-2010 school year. This is the time of year when your daughters may seem a little preoccupied and need some extra support from you as they wind up their studies.

Our 2010 Graduation will be held during the morning of May 23. By the college and scholarship notices that we receive daily, I can see that another class of accomplished young ladies will be pursuing higher scholastic goals and preparing for the work force. The talent in the Class of 2010 is remarkable!

We hope you had time to visit Carondelet High School during the Winton Arts Festival, which took place the last part of April. The students’ work on display in the hallways and in the Inner Court gave us reason to pause and appreciate their talent. The Dance Showcase and concerts at the Lesher Theater were incredible! We can only imagine the hours of practice involved in order to produce such spectacular performances.

Our last Kairos was held in late April, a memorable experience for the seniors. This is part of the spiritual experience that our alumnae comment on as they reminisce about their years at Carondelet. For those of you who have juniors, please talk with your daughters about this much anticipated event. Mrs. Mondello, the Director of Campus Ministry, has more information in her article later in this newsletter.

Many juniors and seniors will be taking AP exams during the first two weeks of May. Please help your daughter in getting as much rest as possible as she prepares for these exams. We wish them all much success in this undertaking.

We have a couple of Sisters who are in transition. Sr. Joann Heinritz will be returning from her semester-long sabbatical. We look forward to her sharing of her studies and adventures abroad. Sr. Patricia Anne Gilligan will be retiring and moving to Los Angeles. We look forward to Sr. Joann’s return to Carondelet while we wish Sr. Patricia Anne the very best in her retirement years. Sister P.A., as she is affectionately called in the office, has been in the CSJ Community for more than 60 years and has remained a vital part of the Carondelet HS faculty since 1989. Our prayers and blessings accompany her as she relocates to southern California.

Finally, Carondelet High School celebrates its 45th anniversary in September. We will have more details in future newsletters as we plan for this event.

May this last month of school go very well for your daughter. I would like to thank you for your continued support both in educating your daughter and in further developing our programs and facilities this year. May you and your family be blessed this month in your own personal endeavors.

Sincerely,

Teri Hurlbut, Ed. D.
Principal
