The Jefferson Awards, Students in Action Team is a National Organization which promotes and celebrates volunteer service to the community. Carondelet has participated in this program since 2008. The National Organization is sponsored by several businesses in the Bay Area, most notably by Deloitte. Each Student in Action Team is challenged by these companies to fulfill seven goals which promote service in the school. Students who join Students in Action receive Leadership Training in the fall and in the spring of each year to prepare them to fulfill these goals. The SIA Team at Carondelet sponsors a fund raiser each year which supports a project dear to the hearts of the Sisters of St. Joseph such as Get On The Bus or A Friendly Manor. At least twice a year the JA, SIA Team selects four students, from those nominated by their peers, who have performed outstanding service to the community to receive a Jefferson Award Certificate and Pin. Carondelet is one of over thirty schools which participate in this organization. Each year, each of the schools presents a PowerPoint to a panel of judges illustrating their progress in fulfilling these goals. The school making the presentation of the highest quality of form and content is chosen as the Regional Winner and is granted an all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the National Jefferson Awards Celebration of Service. In 2008, Carondelet received the distinction of the Most Outstanding School of Service in the Nation. In 2010, Carondelet received the Silver Medallion as the runner up for the Most Outstanding School of Service in the Nation. In 2011, Carondelet was awarded second place in the Northern California Region.
